Last Friday Lailey had her 12 month well visit at the pediatrician. She weighs 19lbs. and 4 oz. and measures 27 and 3/4 inches tall. I thought she'd be over 20 lbs, but not yet. She's petite like me. I've been posting a lot about what we've all been doing, but haven't written much about how much Lailey has changed lately. So here are a few fun little things about her...-Lailey isn't walking yet, but she's cruising and can walk very well while pushing her Pooh Bear car. She is a fast crawler and pulls up on everything.
-She still sleeps 11-ish hours at night and takes 2 naps. Thank you, God, for a great sleeper. I love my sleep!
-Her little personality is coming out more and more. She likes to be silly and will get the giggles sometimes.
-She is talking like CRAZY! She has been repeating things we say, though pretty garbled, but sometimes it really sounds like she's saying entire sentences (in her own language of course) complete with proper voice inflections, hand motions, and facial expressions. In fact, sometimes in the car or when she's playing independently it sounds like she's telling a whole story and will even laugh in the middle of it because she cracks herself up. It's hilarious!
-Her words include baby, dada, mama (says this less than dada), uh-oh, ba (ball), wa-wa (water), up, hi, bye-bye, and some made-up word for "balloon," since she loves balloons. She's also been known to say "puppy," and the other morning I could have sworn she said "hi Rudy" a couple times.
-She enjoys books and looks through her board books on her own. Occasionally she "reads" them aloud.
-She can identify her head, her tummy, her toes, Mommy's nose and Daddy's nose, her grandparents, the dog, her ball, balloons, lights, and herself in the mirror (she points and says "baby!").
-She eats mostly table food now, but due to her current fascination with dropping it on the floor, I have had to go back to spoon-feeding her a lot of things. She will still eat mostly anything, but I can tell she is becoming more aware of different flavors and textures, and sometimes has to adjust to them a little more. She doesn't really refuse anything though.
-She is still nursing, but just at night and in the morning. We made it a year! Hooray! (My skills of pumping and driving paid off...yes, you read that correctly. Please don't turn me in. My child was never in the car when I did it and I was covered, thank you very much.)
-She sometimes gives hugs and kisses when she wants to. I guess she's selective about her affection-giving! She can blow kisses and just today has started making the "mwaaaa" sound when blowing them.
-She loves to look at herself in the mirror and say "baby" over and over...and over...and over. I'll have to get this on video.
-She likes to move and groove and clap to music.
-She has a temper and will cry and get red-faced and VERY mad if prevented from doing something she wants to do, such as standing up using the faucet in the tub. Not safe!
-She loves to be out and about, especially in the grocery store where she greets passers-by with an adorable, high-pitched "HI!" They love it.
-She loves blankets. Any blanket and every blanket. She typically has to hold onto one when she falls asleep.
-She is a joy and a blessing. Davey and I agree that life is so much more fun with her around. Not that we didn't enjoy life before, but things are just sweeter now.
