New Smyrna Beach 2014

So many fun memories from vacation this year! The kids are at such great ages to play and experience everything. With four Akin grandkids, there's always someone to play with.

A few funny stories and moments from the vacation from a note I made in my phone:

On the first morning, we woke up to the kids telling us, "we're ready to go the beach!!" Um, no. It was 7:00, which is early for us.

Grammy bought them little kickboards (TMNT and Princess), but they quickly became "surfboards" to the kids, and they would stand on them and pretend to surf all over the condo.

Maddox was always running around in the morning without underwear because he never seemed to remember where they are like he does at home.

Kids singing "Frozen Heart" from Frozen with the beach shovel for an ice pick.

One morning Lailey asked me to open Maddox's candy necklace from Grammy because "I already ate mine," she said. "Before breakfast?!?" my non-vacation brain thought. I said nothing, and obliged, secretly hoping they would let me delay breakfast and lay in bed awhile since they had a snack. They played a little while, but I realized if there was ever a perfect time for a movie, it was right then. I rolled out of bed, not bothering to find my glasses, and hoped I could get the DVD player to work. Davey was out running, otherwise this task would have been delegated to him. While I squinted at 3 different remotes (why didn't I find my glasses?!?) Lailey came out of her room saying, "Look! I'm surfing on the big surfboard!" She was indeed standing on something, but I couldn't see what it was. When she held it up, I found out. "No dear," I said, "THAT is the ironing board."

On the day we went to Magic Kingdom:
Lailey didn't want to get out of bed, and I said, "Don't you want to go to Disney World?"
"Yes," she replied, "but I want to take my bed with me!"

On the car ride to Orlando, I found out just how mad Davey is about the song "Love is an Open Door" from Frozen and when Hans tells Anna near the end of the movie that he doesn't love her. "He's manipulating her!" was among the many things he told me on his rant.

K, now on to some pictures.

One morning I awoke around 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep (very odd for me). After awhile I noticed the light had changed in our room, even with the thick curtains. I figured if I wasn't going to sleep anyway, I might as well take some sunrise pictures since I had brought my tripod.
Maybe not award winning, but I certainly had fun!
Early morning catch
This year I told my mother-in-law I'd coordinate a family photo shoot if everyone was willing. I am so excited with the way the pictures turned out. Here are a couple of my favorites:
