The fall is my favorite time of year. My birthday, cooler weather, and Halloween! Lots of traditions around the last one. One of which is making homemade costumes. However, this year with much reluctance I gave in to store-bought costumes. There was simply not time. Of course, there's nothing
wrong with buying costumes, I just love crafting and making costumes is one of my favorite things to do. But I would have had to lose a lot of sleep to make them, and I'm not getting enough as it is. Ah well, there's next year. You can't do it all. (Though as moms, we like to think we can. But that's a post for another day).
I asked Lailey what she wanted to be for Halloween, and she decisively chose a ladybug. I showed her a few other costumes online, but nope, it was a ladybug for sure. And I must say she makes a fine ladybug at that.

When it comes to infant costumes, I'm not usually a fan. I always feel sorry for the babies all decked out in these ridiculously puffy, uncomfortable costumes. But when Grammy came across this cute little tiger outfit - which is more like warm footie pajamas with a hood attached - I was sold.

| And of course, the Ghostbuster. Betcha didn't see that one coming! |
This year at Harp's Harvest (our church's fall festival), there was more of a buzz about Davey's Proton Pack than ever before. He had multiple people ask him to have their picture taken with him, and even little kids were yelling "Hey look! A Ghostbuster!" Don't try to deny it, honey. You know you love it.
And I was dressed as...Mommy. I felt pretty miserable all of Halloween weekend due to a high fever and a breast infection (mastitis). I probably should not have gone out, but I was more sick at the thought of missing Lailey having so much fun.

Nick and Julie made us this incredible dessert and I just had to take a picture. It's a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Caramel Apple, and yes, it tastes as good as it sounds. I love a good caramel apple - the combo of the sweet and tart is so yummy. Well, add Reese's to anything and it makes it that much better.

| How the Grinch Stole Halloween |
Halloween weekend wouldn't be complete without a pumpkin carving. This time Davey was the only one who carved, since I didn't feel well enough to do anything, much less dig guts out of a pumpkin. He did this for Lailey, who loves the Grinch and watches the 20-min. cartoon regularly with Daddy. One might think that it's a little odd to carve a character associated with Christmas on a jack-o-lantern, but not in our house. If there's anything Davey loves as much as Ghostbusters it's Christmas. He starts thinking about it in August, listening to Christmas music in September, choosing what presents he wants to give and receive in October, and by the time November rolls around, he's begging to get out the decorations. So, the Grinch on a pumpkin is just regular stuff for us!
