Anniversary Trip to Tybee Island/Savannah

Davey and I try to save and take trips for just the two of us at least once a year. However, our previous three getaways have been...how do I describe them..."interesting" might be a good word. You can read about the rescinded offer and the disastrous stomach virus if you want. The other one was during a short stay in Atlanta when my brakes failed coming out of a parking garage and it happened so fast that I had to crash - and total - my car to avoid zooming out into pedestrians and traffic. We were so thankful for only minor injuries, but it was scary to say the least! With this history, we were a little hesitant to head off on this trip, but we were trusting God that no matter what happened, we'd handle it well and have a great time.
Our B & B
Long story short, we did have a great time. And with no disasters! This was a relief, let me tell you.
First view of the house...incredible!
I usually take way to many pictures, and this trip was no exception. There were so many gorgeous things to photograph on our 4 day stay. I'll let the pictures tell the story.
The owner met us and offered to take our picture right away.
Seafood Platter at Stingray's
I loved this dog's face. She looks like she has a heart outline about her eyes.
Hydrangeas in the garden
The funny tree
We did spend one full day in Savannah, going on a bus tour to enjoy the sights, since we're kind of nerdy and enjoy this sort of thing. A fun highlight was when a few various actors would get on board and tell a story. Check out Forrest Gump below.
On our bus tour
Recognize Forrest in the red hat? As part of the tour, he came aboard,
with a suitcase and a box of chocolates.
Davey looked up used bookstores before the trip so we could check them out. This one was very cool.
This guy loves used books!
Finding a favorite author
Books, books, and more books.
Don't think they'll be using the stairs anytime soon.
His happy find! He had called ahead to find out if they had it (apparently it's difficult to find).

Purple calla lillies
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
Also where my sister got married.
Smallest building in Savannah
Amazing fried green tomatoes at Vic's on the River
There were two bookstores he wanted to visit on the trip. The first was a typical bookstore. The second, not so much.
Second used bookstore
The sign gets better the more you read it.
Lawn mowers. No wait, books. Oh hold on a sec...pest control too?
There was no dog.
The best store hours sign EVER
The guy was SUPER friendly, and kept us there forever, telling us all sorts of stories. I understood none of them. But he was really nice and it was a good laugh when we left.
Thank you, camera bag, for taking this nice picture of us.
Delicious salmon dinner at Moon River Brewing Co.
Restaurant recommended by my sister.
Talmadge Memorial Bridge
Our B & B was only a 5 minute walk to the beach, so we spent one afternoon there, enjoying some quiet reading time. That is, until this weird thing washed up. I have never seen a horseshoe crab and didn't even know what it was until someone else told us. It was so big!

On our way out to dinner
Garden fountain
I love the spanish moss
It was a very fun and relaxing trip. We realized on the long drive home how much we missed Lailey and Maddox! I think coming back refreshed and ready to see your kids means it was a successful trip.
